The Rev. Dan King will be installed at 4 p.m. Sunday as permanent minister of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Augusta, 3501 Walton Way Extension.
The Rev. King, who came to the Augusta congregation three years ago as an extension minister, will be the fifth ``called minister'' since the church was organized in 1954. The Rev. King, an adjunct chaplain to several Augusta-area hospitals, is also co-chair of Augustans Together, a forum on racism.
Qiyamah Rahman, Unitarian Universalist district executive from Charlotte, N.C., will assist during the rededication of the church's renovated religious education wing at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. A reception will follow the morning service.
Homecoming
The Rev. Mason Davis will be the featured speaker during homecoming services at Mount Horeb Baptist Church, Mount Horeb Church Road, Wrens, at 11 a.m. Sunday. The church also is marking its 150th anniversary.
The church will serve barbecue and hash during a covered-dish dinner after the service. It also will have a special singing with variousperformers at 2:30 p.m., said the Rev. Paul Moore, pastor.
The Rev. Randell Whitaker will lead revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Consecration
Trinity-on-the-Hill United Methodist Church, 1330 Monte Sano Ave., will celebrate the conclusion of its $4 million renovation and expansion program with a consecration ceremony at 11 a.m Sunday.
The 75-year-old church added more than 25,000 square feet and renovated about 35,000 square feet on its campus during the extensive project.
Musical performance
Marvin Goldstein, a pianist and recording artist who has performed in concert halls in Canada, England, Israel and across the United States, will play at the Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 835 North Belair Road, Evans, at 7 p.m. Sept. 8.
Mr. Goldstein, who also plays the accordion, French horn and organ, has recorded more than 200 songs, including I Need Thee Every Hour, and How Great Thou Art. For more information, call 737-7978.
Benefit event
The Rev. Phinizy Young will bring the message to the 100 Women in White and 100 Men in Black program at Friendship Baptist Church, 515 Richland Ave., Aiken, at 3 p.m. Sept. 10.
The event will benefit the National Federation of the Blind-Aiken Chapter.
Conference
The American Cities Campaign, an effort to link urban and suburban churches and service ministries with businesses to help faith-based outreach in the inner city, will come to Augusta Sept. 23 through Sept. 26.
The mission of the conference is to encourage evangelism, social action and economic development in the inner city. The conference is free except for the workshops, which cost $36 and include lunch. Group discounts are available.
Dr. John Perkins and the Rev. Wayne Gordon will be featured speakers. Dr. Perkins is the founder of Christian Community Development Association, a national nonprofit organization that is sponsoring the campaign.
Conference highlights include workshops and vendor exhibits on Saturday Sept. 23 at Lucy C. Laney Comprehensive High School, 1339 Laney Walker Blvd. The conference will conclude with a rally at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1223 Laney Walker Blvd., at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26.
