Comments from our readers.

IT'S TOO BAD BILL KIRBY'S column on growing up making homemade ice cream wasn't as good a memory as mine is. Usually, too, there were family and friends around. Too bad also that Bill's ice cream wasn't very good. Ours was terrific. Mom and Dad usually made banana. No, there weren't as many flavors as today, but there isn't a factory-made banana ice cream around that can touch my dad's homemade. Ah, to be a kid again.

RANT TO THE BOARD of Education: The board voted to raise the school taxes and then gave Dana Bedden a $15,000 bonus for sitting behind a desk and telling other people what to do? I just barely make that in one year, and yet he is making more in one year than most people make in 20 years.

JOHN EDWARDS IS a "dirt bag." What arrogance to believe that he could get away with it. Politicians should live on another planet.

WHY DID GOV. PERDUE go to China? Does he know the state is in a money crisis? He should be ashamed.

A RANT TO SPEEDERS. If people did the speed limit on River Watch, especially between 15th Street and River Shoals, gas prices might go down a full dollar!

IT SEEMS TO ME there are some real problems with administration in the Georgia Department of Education. Looking at the audits, it seems that they are focusing on the one issue of the Academic Coaching Grant when there are numerous problems with the Georgia Department of Education. Maybe you need to quit naming names and look at the real issues.

HOW CAN AUGUSTA LET the APT bus system run out of gas while they spend millions on a trolley system that will have a much smaller service area?

WHY IS THE PRICE of food, gas, pretty much everything going up, but yet our income isn't? For those who were living paycheck by paycheck, they can't even do that now.
