Applauds day camp program, directors

Web posted August 17, 1997

Editor, The Chronicle:

As a mother of two growing boys and a Cub Scout den leader, I feel the need once again to voice my pride in being part of a most wonderful organization; that being the Boy Scouts of America! I have enjoyed two fun-filled years as a den leader and welcome the upcoming year.

This past June I volunteered as a den leader for the day-camp program offered at Camp Linwood Hayne for a week. This was the best experience I've had since I began with the Cub Scout program. I loudly give director Ted Johnson and program director Dan MacEachern a ``round'' of applause! Without their efforts and hard work, such a program would not have existed.

I know those boys who were able to attend this year's day camp will have the treasured, unforgettable memories just as my two sons and I will always have. My vote is that Mr. Johnson and Mr. MacEachern run this day camp again next year.

Furthermore, without knowing in advance any of the boys assigned to me, I could not have had a better group of young boys. Their excitement, willingness and eagerness made each and every day eventful. I personally welcome everyone back to day camp next year.

Janice Vaughn, Augusta
