Life-saving device comes through
Letter to the Editor
Friday, August 15, 2008

I thank God first of all because He is to be praised above any medical device or doctor.

For a long time, Medicare declined to pay for my husband to get a defibrillator, although his heart doctors recommend that he should have one. We could not pay for one ourselves.

Finally, in October 2005, Medicare approved for him to have one. We had not used it until July 18. His heart doctor confirmed that most likely he would have died if it had not been for the defibrillator. He is a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and brother.

I just feel that if a life can be saved with these kinds of devices, they are well worth it.
