South Carolina has sold out season tickets for the eighth consecutive year, the school's athletic department said Wednesday.

Tickets will be mailed out Friday.

The Gamecocks open the season at home vs. North Carolina State on Aug. 28. The game will be televised by ESPN, beginning at 8 p.m.

KENTUCKY: Quarterback Curtis Pulley has pleaded guilty to a speeding charge in Elizabethtown, Ky., stemming from a traffic stop last week.

The arrest was Pulley's second run-in with police in as many months. He was cited for marijuana possession in Louisville, Ky., in June.

Kentucky coach Rich Brooks has declined to comment on Pul-ley's arrest. Pulley was expected to compete with Mike Hartline for the starting job.

ALABAMA STATE: The Montgomery, Ala., university chose not to contest any of the 23 alleged NCAA rules violations in its official response to the charges.

Interim university president William Harris released the document that was submitted to the NCAA on June 27.

The NCAA alleged widespread use of ineligible players, grade changes and recruiting misdeeds, and charged the school with lack of institutional control.

ARKANSAS: Defensive tackle Ernest Mitchell faces misdemeanor drug and gun charges after a traffic stop in east Arkansas, a state police spokesman says.

Mitchell is the sixth football player to face problems with the law this year, and the third in just two months.

State police spokesman Bill Sadler said Mitchell wasn't arrested but was given a citation for misdemeanor charges and allowed to leave, Sadler said. He is due in court today.

PENN STATE: Defensive tackles Chris Baker and Phil Taylor , who were involved in off-field fights last year, have been kicked off the team by coach Joe Paterno .

Team spokesman Jeff Nelson said no information was available on why they were dismissed.

Baker was sentenced to two years' probation in Centre County court in May for his role in two fights. He was allowed to work out with the team.

Taylor was sentenced to one year of probation for his role in a campus fight. He was not scheduled to rejoin the Nittany Lions until Aug. 16.

CONNECTICUT: Defensive tackle Jarrell Miller , one of the highest-rated recruits the Huskies' have ever landed, has left the school.

The school said Miller left the program for "personal reasons."

JACKSONVILLE STATE: Booted from defending national champion Louisiana State University in May, quarterback Ryan Perrilloux is trying to repair his career and his reputation at a Football Championship Subdivision team tucked away in east Alabama.

And to make sure he doesn't repeat the mistakes, he readily fesses up to making them during three years in Baton Rouge.

"I let a great opportunity slip away at LSU," Perrilloux said. "Everybody knows that, and I know it, too. But what I have to say is will I let that crush me as a player or will I look at that as adversity and use that to drive me and motivate me to do better?

"That's what I've been doing since I've been here. I've been looking at the mistakes I made at LSU and trying not to make those same mistakes at Jacksonville State."

FLORIDA ATLANTIC: Howard Schnellenberger had his contract extended through the 2010 season.

There is a provision in the deal that could allow it to be extended through 2011 if the school's new stadium is not completed until then.
