ATLANTA, Ga.- Mrs. Jessie Porter Cashin, 100, widow of Mr. Stuart A. Cashin, Sr., died Friday, July 23, 2004 at the A. G. Rhodes Home at Wesley Woods, Atlanta. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, in the Curtis Funeral Home Chapel, 218 West Hall Street, Thomson, with Dr. James Ramsey officiating. Burial will be later in the week in the Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta. Mrs. Cashin was a native of McDuffie County and a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. A.G. Porter, a well known Thomson family. She lived in Augusta for many years, where she was a member of Curtis Baptist Church. In the 1960's she retired from St. Joseph Hospital, Augusta, as the head nurse of the Pediatric Department. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Ann Taylor, Morrow; her son, Stuart A. Cashin, Jr., Atlanta; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
