Rahal, the 1986 Indy winner, and Parsons, who took that title in 1950, will be inducted Thursday in Novi, Mich. Also being inducted into the 16th class will be NASCAR executive Bill France Jr., NHRA Top Fuel champion Joe Amato, multiclass sports car champ Geoff Brabham, driver-designer-builder Don Vesco and longtime Los Angeles Times motorsports writer Shav Glick.
Rahal was rookie of the year at Indy in 1982 and is co-owner of Rahal Letterman Racing, which won the 500 in May with driver Buddy Rice. As a driver, Rahal also won two CART series championships.
Parsons, who died in 1984, had 11 Indy car victories in his career. He won the 1949 AAA National Championship, finished second at Indy that year before his victory in 1950. He also finished fourth in 1956.
