Graphic apparel manufacturer Ralph Marlin has come out with a series of silk ties and knit boxers based on the Beatles 1968 animated adventure, Yellow Submarine.
The bold designs and gaudy colors (orange, purple, hot pink) are guaranteed attention-getters -- and should provide you with plenty of openings to discuss your favorite singing group.
The ties sell for $30, the boxers for $17. They are available in most department stores and through many catalogs.
QUESTION OF THE WEEK:
Heard of Limp Bizkit? How about Insane Clown Posse? Social Distortion? They're not the terms for psychological disorders or culinary flops. They're the names of bands playing at this weekend's Woodstock festival.
Kind of makes you wonder how musicians' choose a name for their band.
Maybe they flip through the dictionary and randomly join words. For example: Clay Bikini (picture that album cover), or Calico Pudding.
So what's your idea for an unusual band name?
Call 823-3348 to suggest a crazy band name candidate, or send e-mail to eadams@augustachronicle.com. Include your name, age and phone number if you like. We'll print the results Thursday in Your Life.
TV TONIGHT:
Those who either missed or want more of the Lifetime movie on the advice-giving twins Ann Landers and Abby Van Buren might want to tune in to Ann Landers: America's Confidante. This Biography profile at 8 p.m. on A&E takes a look at Eppie Lederer, her most influential columns and the one problem she couldn't solve -- her own sibling rivalry.
