Mr. George Hassell

NORTH AUGUSTA - Mr. George Edwin ``Ed'' Hassell, 70, of Caretta Avenue, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Westwood Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of North Augusta with the Revs. Bill Bigger and Jerry T. Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort.

Mr. Hassell, a native of Chatfield, Ark., was an Army veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and had retired from the Army after 24 years. He had retired as assistant director of central supply from University Hospital. He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta, where he was a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Ann Taylor Hassell; a son, David Taylor Hassell, Augusta; two daughters, Tanya Hassell and Tara Hassell, both of North Augusta; a sister, Doris H. Bishop, Mobile, Ala.; and a grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Camp Juliette, c/o University Health Care Foundation, 1350 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30901.

The family will receive friends at the church after the service.

Stephen D. Posey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
