Miss Latonya Hammond

JOHNSTON, S.C. - Miss Latonya Hammond, 16, of Derrick Road, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, in Leesburg, Fla.

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, Eureka, with the Revs. Reginald Grimes and Larry Raiford officiating. Burial will be in Mount Sinai Cemetery.

Miss Hammond, a lifelong resident of Edgefield County, was a student at Strom Thurmond High School, where she was a member of NJROTC and Future Business Leaders. She was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church.

Survivors include her father, Charles Hammond Sr., Johnston; her mother and stepfather, Emmie Jones Hammond and Bennie Roper, Johnston; seven brothers, Charles Hammond Jr., Eric J. Hammond and Keon Hammond, all of Leesburg, Fla., Simon Hammond and Trevon Dukes, both of Johnston, and B.J. Roper and Chris Roper, both of Aiken; seven sisters, Quin Wright, Shon Wright and Krystella Wright, all of Leesburg, Georgette Roper, Christine Roper and Classie Roper, all of Graniteville, and Revonda Abney, Johnston; her paternal grandfather, David Hammond, Eureka; and her maternal grandmother, Etherdell Jones, Eureka.

Pallbearers will be her classmates.

Friends may call at the residence or at Amos and Sons Funeral Home.
