The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Thomas Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie B. Tomlin officiating. Burial will be in Pines Cemetery.
Mr. Wells, a native of Washington County, had retired as a Waynesboro city employee. He was a former deacon of Peel Grove Baptist Church and a member of Thomas Grove Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Sallie G. Wells; three sons, John Wells, Joseph Wells and James Paul Wells, all of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five daughters, Mae E. Cokley, Hazel Thompson, Sallie Mae Wells, Julia Gammage and Jannie Wells, all of St. Petersburg; and 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 10 ten great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and trustees of Thomas Grove Baptist Church.
Friends may call at the residence or at Carter's Mortuary.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
