Deke Copenhaver can lead Augusta
Letter to the Editor
Thursday, June 30, 2005

I am writing this from the perspective of a lifelong resident of Augusta, and one who believes there can be brighter days ahead for the CSRA.

Augusta has unique major partners: Savannah River Site, the Medical College of Georgia, major quality hospitals, Fort Gordon and strong industrial facilities. We are showcased to the world every year with the Masters Tournament. Our natural resources are tremendous. We can and should move forward with vision to develop Thurmond Lake, the Savannah River, Phinizy Swamp and the Augusta Canal corridor.

Personally, I believe we need a man with fresh vision to show us what is just around the next bend. We can no longer afford to be satisfied or apathetic about the future of our city - especially the educational needs of our children and the rejuvenation of downtown Augusta.

I highly recommend Deke Copenhaver to be our next elected mayor. He will build consensus and implement Augusta's Destination 2020 initiative. Deke's desire is to move our city forward with all of Augusta collaborating together.
