Rants and Raves

RAVES TO TRENTON , S.C., and the 2008 Peach Festival. It was my second trip since accidentally finding (the festival) in 2007 while looking for vegetable stands near Edgefield. It was great this year; the crowd was super. Great job, Trenton. Keep it going.

A RAVE TO JIMMY , the photo manager at Walgreens in North Augusta. Always very helpful and has the best customer service ever.

WHY IS IT THAT a black person can say whatever he wants about other races, but if a white person says anything, he has to apologize to the world, be fired from his job, go to some type of sensitivity class, and his life is all but ruined?

THIS IS A RANT for Midland Valley High School, which allowed the students who defaced the yearbook to participate in graduation anyway. It was one thing for them to make their mark as a senior prank, but to pick on other students with disabilities, they went just a little bit too far. Shame on you, Midland Valley, for allowing the students to participate and for allowing them to do what they did to the yearbook.

PLEASE PUBLISH the Augusta Area Junior Golf Association and the South Carolina Junior Golf Association tee times and tournament leaders/winners. These young men should be commended for their efforts, and the community should be informed of their perseverance toward excellence.

TO THE NICE gentleman who paid for my lunch Sunday, June 8, at Ruby Tuesdays in North Augusta: Thank you.

INSTEAD OF Chief Lee Wetherington sending inappropriate e-mails to other employees, he should let them know that was inappropriate behavior. If they have all that time to play on the computers, they need to take a permanent vacation.

THIS IS A RANT to parents who blame teachers for their children's failure on tests. Go to school sometime and watch your little darling interact with the other kids, He is not interested in learning. He is too busy text-messaging on his cell phone (and if it is taken away, you scream because it costs you money for a new one). The girls are so inappropriately dressed that the boys are leering at them, grabbing their bottoms and kissing in the hallways. Teachers are just baby sitters for parents who don't have time to rear their children. Good luck to your children if they really want to learn, because it isn't happening here!
