A wholesale distributor of home products has opened its remodeled showroom.

Ferguson Enterprises Inc. more than doubled the size of its showroom at 3610 Wrightsboro Road.

General Manager George Fisher said the store has also expanded its selections and "brought new vendors and companies to Augusta."

The 6,500-square-foot showroom's merchandise includes high-end plumbing and lighting products, appliances, cabinets and countertops.

Ferguson works with contractors and homeowners for construction and remodeling projects. It also offers new kitchen design software.

The company, which has been in Augusta for 20 years, moved to its Wrightsboro Road location in 1999.

"It gives our customers a better selection, and it allows them to have options that are available to a larger city," said Jeramy Perry, the showroom manager. "Whatever the market really needs, we have an opportunity to bring it here to Augusta."

Mr. Perry said interior designers tell him "they no longer have to go to Atlanta."

Ferguson also added office space and new employees: two consultants and a kitchen designer.

Ferguson, based in Newport News, Va., has 1,400 locations in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Caribbean. The company, founded in 1953, has nine distribution centers across the nation.
