What is it?

Last week's What Is It? photo showed the rear window of the new Ford Escape Hybrid crossover sport utility vehicle. We asked for the specific model -- the Hybrid -- and the photo gave a couple of clues. (See the review in this section for a full photograph.)

P.J. Rogers, of Evans, was the first reader to identify the gasoline-electric version of the Escape. He wins a gift from The Augusta Chronicle for being first.

By the way, we gave credit for the near-identical Mercury Mariner Hybrid and Mazda Tribute Hybrid.

Other readers who guessed correctly were: Trent Miller, of Edgefield, S.C.; Leon Easley, of Augusta; Ken Ziegler and Sara Kennedy, both of Evans; Cheryl Cook, of Martinez; Aaron Smith, Grace Yrizarry and Stephen Carey, all of Grovetown, the last of whom wrote: "I knew it as soon as I saw it, but it took me awhile to prove it in a photo"; Felicia Wiggins, of Hephzibah; Sarah Videtto, of Martinez; and Allen and Nola Radcliffe, of Aiken, who wrote: "We have had one for about six months and are very pleased with it."

This week, let's look at a 2008 vehicle, above right. Tell us the make and model of this brand-new car. Send an e-mail to glynn.moore@augusta chronicle.com or call (706) 823-3419 and leave a message. Please tell us your phone number , city of residence and how to spell your name.

The deadline is noon Wednesday. The names of correct guessers will be published Friday, and the first will get a gift from The Chronicle.
