Border states hypocritical on growth
Letter to the Editor
Friday, June 20, 2008

Who does Florida think it is telling us to control our growth? They are the ones with a growth problem.

I know -- I lived there for eight years. The whole state is a sponge. Everything they pour on the ground ends up in their aquifer. But that doesn't stop them from encouraging more building and growth.

Before Florida or Alabama tells us to control our growth and demand water from us, they need to be told to develop desalination plants. When they can prove that they are serious about that, then we can send them water. If desalination is good enough for the Cayman Islands, it's good enough for Florida and Alabama.
