Rants and raves

Comments from our readers:

A HUGE RANT to the tacky bar owners in downtown Augusta that charge $9 for a 6-ounce glass of white wine and $9.50 for a margarita. Strip club prices with no entertainment.

ALL THIS HIGH AND MIGHTY talk of all the grand things that could occur at the site of the Regency Mall is a big joke. We all know it's just a matter of time before the real movers and shakers of Richmond County build their latest flea market there.

A BIG RAVE to the city for the awesome fireworks it provided for our troops. That was amazing!

A BIG RAVE for Hephzibah Middle School. I attended the sports banquet and was very impressed at how well the students conducted themselves and how well they were dressed. Great job, kids!

A RANT TO Betty Beard. I guess she has forgotten where Harrisburg is again. It is in your district, Ms. Beard. Put some of that money in Harrisburg.

I CONTACTED COLUMBIA County about a large, dead tree along a busy road that was a potential hazard to motorists traveling Petersburg Road. Within 15 minutes of my call, they had crews there ready to take this tree down. I was totally amazed at the response time. I commend them all!

GEORGIA REPUBLICAN PARTY Chairwoman Sue Everhart said that the party's presumed presidential nominee "has a lot in common with Jesus Christ." However this politician tries to hedge on this one, she's gone too far.

A RAVE TO ALL the teachers in Columbia County. Thank you for another outstanding year of dedication and service in educating our children.

THIS IS A RANT to Charles Walker: Yeah, you helped, but you hurt people, too. Just do the time, quietly.

RANT TO GOV. PERDUE. Why put a Band-Aid on education with moneys for private schools when they are being taught out of sometimes 10-year-old books? THINK. This is our future we are talking about.

ONE REASON DRUG companies charge so much for their product is advertising. Kill the advertising to the general public and cut the cost of these drugs.
