In the only contested race on the GOP ballot, County Council Chairman Ronnie Young's bid for a second full four-year term is being challenged by the Rev. Tommy Knotts and Aiken County public works employee Phillip Magee. This is an important contest in the heavily GOP county. The winner will play a critical local leadership role.
For the second time this year, North Augusta Democrats will decide whether Rev. Nathaniel Irvin, who they nominated last time, or school worker Evelyn Robinson will challenge short-term GOP incumbent Don Smith for the District 81 House seat.
Voters cannot participate in both primaries - they must choose one party or the other.
