Honored by sorority

The following people have been recognized by Phi Chi chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc.:

Education grant

Public Education Partners, Aiken County's Education Foundation, has been awarded a $20,952 grant from the Gregg-Graniteville Foundation to construct a new Synergistic Modules Lab at the Leavelle McCampbell Middle School, Aiken County.

Gets alumni award

Paul M. Bertsch , of Aiken, director of the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory at the University of Georgia, has been awarded the Outstanding Alumni Award for the Department of Crop and Soil Environmental Sciences in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences by the Alumni Association of Virginia Technical College, Blacksburg.

Gets tennis grant

Chelsea Whitehurst , of Aiken, has received the Eve Kraft Education & College Scholarship for $2,500 from the United States Tennis Association Tennis and Education Foundation.

Pupils recognized

The following student were recognized as Good Citizens for May at Greendale Elementary, New Ellenton:

Teacher honored

Ginger Dunker , of Aiken, has been selected as the High School Teacher of Excellence for 2008-09 by the South Carolina Council of Teachers of English.
