"I truly feel Mr. Charles Walker was found guilty before he went to trial. I don't believe he could ever receive a fair trial in the state. Guilty of 127 counts. It's so unfortunate for him as well as his family."
- Pearl Brown, of Augusta, retired from the Army
"As a former employee of the Augusta Focus newspaper, I, along with several other employees, are more than happy with the just verdict. Before anyone starts crying racism because of the makeup of the jury, remember some that testified against him were black and were not forced to testify."
- Jimmy Carter, Augusta photographer
"This proves that no matter who you are, how much money you have, or what color your skin is, no one is above the law. Charles Walker, Robin Williams and others like them will now be held accountable for their actions. The 'little people' have won."
- Karen Parker, of Martinez, who works in accounts receivable for a retail business
"I would say that it's a sad day for the people of Augusta, and for those who elected him as a senator for the state of Georgia. But Charles Walker sold out to greed and corruption and forgot the oath he took years ago to serve the citizens of Augusta, all for self-gain. What he got is well deserved, but in reality the poor people of Augusta will ultimately pay the price for his selfishness."
- Jack W. Rackliff, of Grovetown, Richmond County sheriff's officer
"I'm surprised, but it's great. However, it's a sad day for Augusta to have the notoriety."
- John Lewis, of Evans, nurse
"Mr. Walker has done untold damage to the young people that looked up to him. I am saddened that all the good he did in the Augusta area was undone by greed."
- Elsie Mobley, of Snellville, Ga., retired
"Sen. Walker was not tried by a jury of his peers - nine whites, three blacks. Sen. Walker should appeal this verdict."
- Rufus C. Foster, of Augusta, retired Navy chief petty officer
