The Augusta GreenJackets had more firepower in a 9-8 shootout win over the Charleston RiverDogs on Memorial Day at Lake Olmstead Stadium.
The GreenJackets had one less hit than Charleston, but combined for five extra base hits to pick up their fourth win in a row.
In the middle of the offensive showcase was GreenJackets second baseman Nick Noonan.
"Mr. Noonan had quite a day," GreenJackets manager Andy Skeels said. "Today was a day that just shows one of the reasons we like him so much. He's been exceptional for us all year."
Noonan was a triple shy of the cycle on a 3-for-5 day with four RBI. His two-run homer was the front end of back-to-back home runs in a five-run fourth inning.
Garrett Baker provided the other long shot to knock out Charleston starter Dellin Betances, who gave up eight runs -- seven earned -- on eight hits through 3w innings.
The GreenJackets scored three runs in the third inning and five in the fourth, and the game-winning run crossed the plate courtesy of Noonan's RBI single in the sixth inning.
Third baseman Andrew Davis went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored hitting in the No. 8 spot in the batting order. No. 9 hitter Francisco Peguero went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a triple down the third base line to lead off the third inning.
"They all swung the bats well," Skeels said.
"I thought we did a good job with situational hitting," the coach added, "and we ran the bases well."
GreenJackets starter Craig Clark gave up four runs on eight hits through six innings, but he got enough help from the offense and bullpen to improve to 4-0 this season.
Relievers Waldis Joaquin, Orlando Yntema and Ryan Paul got the GreenJackets through the seventh and eighth innings with a 9-8 lead.
Closer Daniel Otero earned his 10th save in as many opportunities with a perfect ninth.
The GreenJackets (31-20) are one win away from sweeping the RiverDogs (32-19), who entered the four-game series in first place in the South Atlantic League's Southern Division.
Charleston now sits 21/2 games behind the division-leading Asheville Tourists. The GreenJackets are 31/2 games out of first place.
