Delta pricing is economic deterrent
Web posted May 24, 2000 Have a thought? Go to the @ugusta Forums.
Editor, The Chronicle
Let's get this straight. Again Delta Airlines tells us the Augusta market is too weak for it to support. ... One might wonder if, in truth, is trying to make it so by overpricing the Augusta market.
For example, if you book Delta late this month to travel to Lima, Peru, Travelocity lists the lowest return fares via Delta as $548.80 from Atlanta and $1,157.80 from Augusta (both with some taxes added). That puts the add-on Augusta-Atlanta fare at over $600. If that's not a deterrent, what is?
