AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. James Perry Steed of East Watkins Street entered into rest Saturday, May 17, 2003 at the University Hospital. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Elder William J. Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Walker Memorial Park. He was a native of Richmond County and was a graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School and Allen University. He was a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and the Elks Club, a retired school teacher and a mentor after 30 years of dedicated service. He was also employed by Curtis Cab Company for several years. Survivors are his wife, Margaret Evans Steed; son, Kevin M. Steed, Atlanta; daughters, Evadne M. Steed and Sheri T. Steed, Augusta; step-father, Charles Savage, Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Richard Daggett, Augusta; two sisters, Richardine Holmes, Atlanta and Danette Daggett, Augusta; devoted aunt, Louise Darrian, Augusta; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bessie Steed, Augusta, Alice Evans, Philadelphia, Penn., William and Carolyn Evans, Orangeburg, S.C., Joseph and Mary Evans, Rock Hill, S.C.; ten grandchildren; devoted cousin, Jeannette Irvin; special family friend, Ada W.
