MARTINEZ, Ga. - Entered into rest Saturday, May 17, 2003, Mr. Arlington R. (Arly) Guenther, 68, of Martinez, husband of Mrs. Mary Lou Guenther. Mr. Guenther was a native of Janesville, Wisc. and had lived in the Martinez / Augusta area for the past 35 years. He was a retired business owner and retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years having served in Korea and Viet Nam. Mr. Guenther was a member of St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Patrick Walsh Council # 677 4th degree, American Legion Post # 205, VFW, West Lake Country Club and Green Meadows Country Club. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. P. James Costigan celebrant. Interment will be in Westover Memorial Park with full military honors. Pallbearers will be Michael Guenther, Isaac Guenther, Jimmy Drawdy, Brad Drawdy, Troy Wheeler and Jack Parel. Honorary escort will be the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Honor Guard. Family members are his wife; two daughters, Diane Guenther of Jacksonville, Cheryl Drawdy and husband Jim, of Martinez; sons, Donald Guenther and wife, Nancy of Augusta, Arly Guenther and wife , Karen of Lake Forest, Ill., Scott Guenther and wife, Jan of Alpharetta; 14 grandchildren, Isaac, Michael, Laurie, Matthew, Allison, Audrey, Mary Lou, and Scotty Guenther, Katie Wheeler, Jenny Price, Jimmy, Brad, Brian and Steven Drawdy; 2 great-grandchildren, Isabelle Guenther and Preston Wheeler; sister, Linda Robinson of Sun Prairie, Wisc., three brothers, Douglas Guenther of Janesville, Timothy Guenther of Janesville and Ace Guenther of Pardeeville, Wisc. A vigil service for the deceased will be Tuesday, May 2O, 2003, at 6:30 p.m. at Thomas Poteet and Son and the family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m. Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Road.
