Reliving old times
The Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society and the Old Ninety Six District (Greenwood, S.C.) Genealogical Society will meet at 3 p.m. today at Willington Presbyterian Church, 11 miles north of McCormick on South Carolina Highway 81.
Dr. Moses Waddel: Log Cabin Learning will be presented by Richard Smith, whose ancestors were from Edgefield County. Refreshments will be served.

Women of leisure
Women in Retirement, a seminar on taking control of retirement and managing the risk of an income shortfall, will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the second floor conference room at 6260 Woodside Executive Center, Aiken. Speakers will be Deborah Brooks and Grace Vance, of Merrill Lynch, and Brie Murray Kopi, the regional marketing director of Lincoln Choice Plus.

Memorial parade
A Memorial Day parade will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in Aiken, with marchers starting at Union Street and going west on Park Avenue to Laurens Street, then turning right onto Laurens Street and going north to Barnwell Avenue.

Farmers market
The Edgefield Community Development Association is sponsoring a Saturday morning farmer's market this summer. Village Markets will be held from 8 a.m. to noon the first and third Saturdays around the square.

Boating classes
Boater education classes will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, May 27 and 28, at the Aiken County Recreation Center, 917 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville.
Students need to bring their Social Security number, snacks and a pencil. The class will cover etiquette rules, safety equipment, laws and registration.
Boaters under the age of 16 who want to operate a vessel with a motor of 15 hp or greater are required to have this class. Those ages 12 and younger may have difficulty with the class material and a parent or guardian must accompany them.

Celebrating
The Children's Miracle Network Celebration, which will feature several area families, will be broadcast on NBC from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 31, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 1.
On the roads again
The Aiken County Transportation Committee will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, June 2, in the County Council Chambers at the Aiken County Council building, 736 Richland Ave. W., Aiken. Citizens are encouraged to attend and may request to address the committee about road and transportation issues in Aiken County.
