Difficulties of autism must be explored
Letter to the Editor
Saturday, May 17, 192008

Thanks to Tom Corwin for his excellent and important stories on the Mann family ("Meet the Manns, May 11-13, on a family coping with autistic quadruplets). Thanks also the to Manns for sharing their story with the world. I applaud their courage and strength in the face of such difficult odds.

The autism/vaccine connection is far from settled. This week an important case is being heard in Washington, D.C., in the Vaccine Court, and will center on the possible link between thimerosal in vaccines and autism.

On June 4 at the U.S. Capitol Building, a "Green Our Vaccines" rally, led by celebrities Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey, will take place, with thousands of people already registered. It's a grand effort by the autism community all over the country to let the government know we will no longer accept the vaccine program as it stands. Many have signed up for appointments with their congressional representatives following the rally.
