The Aiken Community Playhouse ends its black box coffeehouse series on May 16 with an evening full of entertainment.
"It's getting busier and busier. We have a lot of people calling," said Maureen Woltermann, coffeehouse chairwoman.
Guitarist and songwriter Drew Davis will perform some of his own music and songs by artists who have influenced him, such as Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson and Hank Williams.
Dustin Turner and Paul Wilson will perform First and Goal, a 10-minute play written by Mr. Davis.
Also, Lisa Tharp and Bill Bernard will perform Broadway show tunes, and cast members of Aiken Community Playhouse's upcoming production of Sweeney Todd will present selections from the show.
Aiken Community Playhouse's Youth Wing improvisation group will perform, and there will be an open mike.
"We've had a great coffeehouse season," said Ms. Woltermann. "We've had some old favorites back and some new faces. Our audiences have been very generous."
Seating in the Bechtel Experimental Theatre of the Washington Center for the Performing Arts is limited, so reservations are required. Admission is $8. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m.
Next season, the coffeehouse will be held on Oct. 10, Feb. 20 and May 15.
