Spring into music

Aiken Choral Society will have a spring concert at 4 p.m. today at Aiken County Historical Museum.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors, $5 for students and free for children.

Aiken Newcomers' Club will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Houndslake Country Club. Reservations are required by 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Gullah showcase

Aiken Community Playhouse will present Aunt Pearlie Sue & the Gullah Kinfolk Singers at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The show is to entertain and educate audiences of all ages about the Gullah heritage. Admission is $20, with reservations accepted at (866) 915-0942 or through the Aiken Center for the Arts.

Racing kiddies

The annual Aiken Kiwanis Club Tricycle Races will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the H. Odell Weeks Activity Center. Money from the event will fund programs for children in Aiken County.

Businesses and individuals are invited to sponsor children ages 3-9. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. with races beginning at 4.

Horse talk

The Aiken County Extension Office will hold a webcast of the 2008 Southeast Equine Conference on Friday at the Aiken County Agricultural Services Center, 1555 Richland Ave. E., Aiken.

Session 1 will be from 8:45 a.m. to noon and Session 2 will be from 1 to 4:15 p.m. Lunch is not provided.

The Future of Horse Nutrition will focus on feeding horses for different stages of life, including reproduction, growth, performance and for senior horses, and will address recent advances in equine nutrition, including new requirements.

The cost is $10 and includes snacks at breaks. To register, call Vickie Browder at (803) 649-6297, ext. 0, or register at the door from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Friday.

Confederate service

The Gen. Joe Wheeler Camp No. 1245 Sons of Confederate Veterans will hold its 14th annual Aiken County Confederate Memorial Day Service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Aiken County Courthouse.

The address will be delivered by Don Gordon, South Carolina division's first lieutenant commander.

Celebrating

The Children's Miracle Network Celebration, which will feature several area families, will be broadcast on NBC from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, May 31, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 1.

Walk at lunch

Lunch Bunch Walkers meet from noon to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday each week to "walk to the oldies" at Gregg Park, 119A Trolley Line Road, Graniteville.
