ORANGE, Texas - Agnes Brown Freeland, 97, of Orange, Texas died Sunday, May 2, 2004, at Oakwood Manor Nursing Home in Vidor, Texas. Family will receive friends Wednesday May 5, 2004 at Elliott Sons Funeral Home Columbia Road Chapel, 4255 Columbia Rd. from 1- 2 p.m. followed by graveside services at Westover Memorial Park at 3 p.m. with Rev. Terry L. Phillips officiating. Mrs. Freeland was born December 12, 1906, in Augusta, Georgia. She moved to Orange in 1992 to be with her daughter, Shirley Marshall and family. Mrs. Freeland made many friends in Texas; the Sabine House in Orange had been her home for the last seven years. She was an outstanding mother. She had cared for her aging parents and her three sisters for many years. She was a lifelong member of St. John United Methodist Church in Augusta, Ga. Mrs. Freeland was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Bligh Freeland, Sr. and her granddaughter Clare Marshall. She is survived by her da ughter and son-in-law Shirley Freeland Marshall and Donald of Orange, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas B. Freeland, Jr. and Marsha of Brentwood, Tennessee. Grandchildren are Kenric Alan Marshall and wife Jana, Julie Freeland Davies and husband Greg; and Thomas B. Freeland, III. Great-grandchildren are Andrew, Nathan, Philip, and Alexandra Davies.
