CONGRATULATIONS TO the South Carolina Department of Transportation and certain people in Graniteville who were instrumental in changing the road system around Main Street and the shopping center complex. This is a big mess. It was completely fine the way it was.

Anyone who cannot stop for a train does not need to be driving, anyway. Just imagine if some of these certain people succeed in their efforts to incorporate GVW. Who knows what other great ideas they will come up with? Wake up, citizens, and vote no to incorporation.

I AM CALLING IN response to the person's rant about the Avondale settlement being split among the employees. Were they there the night of the chlorine spill and did the chlorine affect their brain? When Avondale Mills took over and cut your percentage check from 8 percent to 6 percent, they started using your bonus and vacation pay as a gift so they could double tax it, but you got nothing. They cut out your Christmas gift, and they did not even offer to give service awards for the last six months that they were open for business.

I was there 30 years and didn't receive a service award. People had worked there for 30 or 40 years, and if you were not 55 years old and worked there at least 10 years, they didn't even give you a percentage check the Christmas after they closed. Why does he expect them to give us any of the settlement money they get from the insurance? There must be a better way to make money than cheat people.

THIS IS A RAVE FOR the Bath Fire Department: Good job on getting your truck to the Clearwater Finishing Plant fire even though you were told to hold up for 20 minutes. Why would Clearwater Fire Department actually stop a department from responding to help out residents?

A RANT TO CLEARWATER Fire Department. Why don't you go ahead and shut your doors. You could have put a better stop on the finishing plant if you used your heads.

THIS IS A RANT for the inconsiderate people who park their cars in the trailer-parking-only spots at the North Augusta boat landing. Also, parking on the grass where we are trying to make a turn with a 20-foot boat. You are going to find your car may get hit if you can't follow the signs. Shame on you.

RAVE TO AMANDA and Chris at Day's Television Repair in North Augusta. They go above and beyond to help their customers. A big thank you to both.

HOW DID THAT PREACHER from Conway, S.C., get past security at a U.S. airport?
