Karen Wilcox expects the 20th annual Our Lady of Peace School Strawberry Festival to be especially sweet.
"The strawberries are huge and delectable" this year, said Mrs. Wilcox, the school's principal.
"The weather has been perfect for strawberries. The jam will be extra sweet."
Gurosik's Berry Plantation donates the strawberries for the May 13 festival. The school will sell strawberries by the bucket. Strawberry jams, baked goods, milk shakes and sundaes also will be sold.
The festival is a fundraiser for the school, and brings in about $6,000 yearly, said Pam Mentrup, the festival chairwoman.
The money will go into the general operating fund, but there are some projects the money could be set aside for, she said.
"We want to put televisions in all the classrooms and upgrade the Internet to connect the upper and lower school," Ms. Mentrup said.
The festival will feature children's games, a dunking booth and an inflatable slide. There also will be concession stands, where such items as hamburgers and soft tacos will be sold.
Mrs. Wilcox said organizers try to add something new each year. Pony rides will be available this year.
