Orison, which took a spill in the featured race Saturday at the 42nd Aiken Steeplechase, sustained minor injuries but is OK. The same goes for Orison's jockey, Matthew McCarron, according to Bill Gallo of the National Steeplechase Association.

"He's a little scraped up, nothing serious," Mr. Gallo said of Orison.

Orison fell in the Southern Bank and Trust Imperial Cup, which was won by Preemptive Strike.

Five horses fell in Saturday's races at Ford Conger Field.

Elusive Glory, owned by Magaren Bryant and trained by Doug Fout, fell on the final jump in the third race of the day, the G. H. Bostwick. The horse broke part of one of its legs and was euthanized, said Aiken Steeplechase Association vice president Albert Bostwick.

According to Mr. Gallo, the only jockey to sustain a serious injury was Jody Petty. He broke his collarbone in the fourth race when Rainiero took a spill.
