ATLANTA --- The Atlanta Falcons re-signed Joey Harrington on Wednesday, one week after cutting the six-year veteran quarterback.

General manager Thomas Dimitroff , who also has re-signed QB Chris Redman to a two-year deal, has said the team will take a quarterback in next month's NFL Draft.

The 29-year-old Harrington started 10 games last season, but he returns as a probable backup -- the role he would have played before Michael Vick's legal troubles.

Also returning is D.J. Shockley , the former University of Georgia starter who missed last season with a knee injury.

Harrington was released last week to clear about $3.5 million in salary cap space for 2008. Terms of his new contract were not released.

PANTHERS: Police records show receiver Dwayne Jarrett 's blood-alcohol level was 0.12 when he was arrested on a driving while impaired charge, above North Carolina's legal limit of 0.08 for driving.

Mecklenburg County court spokesman Charles Keller said the blood-alcohol reading was in a police document delivered to the court Wednesday. A hearing involving Jarrett was delayed until April 11.

Jarrett was arrested early Tuesday in the Charlotte suburb of Mint Hill.

TAYLOR DEATH: The shooting suspect in the killing of Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor told police he and the other suspects burned their clothes in an attempt to cover up the crime.

The statements by Eric Rivera Jr. , 17, and two other suspects were released Wednesday by state prosecutors at the request of news outlets. All three statements are heavily redacted and don't contain outright confessions.

But there are hints throughout of what happened and what led up to the Nov. 26 shooting, which authorities say took place in a botched robbery attempt at Taylor's Miami home.

Taylor died the next day from blood loss.

Rivera, like the other suspects, told detectives there were five people on the trip that night, though only four are charged.

Another suspect, Jason Scott Mitchell , 20, said he thought about coming forward when he found out it was Taylor who had been shot. Mitchell's statement also provides new details on a birthday party he attended in September at Taylor's home. He said he stayed at the house for several days.
