Joaquin Godoy's guest column ("Obama movement could propel our nation into revolutionary awakening," March 4) was so profoundly informative regarding the ills and weaknesses of America -- including a very descriptive critique of our country's choice for president, George W. Bush, that by Mr. Godoy's assessment the United States of America is a one on a scale of one to 10.
Also, Mr. Godoy says Mr. Obama's campaign is "creating a once-in-a-generation possibility to make us tall and proud again, and regain the respect of the rest of the world. In many ways he seems too good to be true."
Many politicians before Mr. Obama have promised "a chicken in every pot," and after the Cuban revolution in 1959 what, if anything, may Fidel Castro have promised the Cuban people? Was Mr. Godoy so disillusioned with this revolution's reformation that he left his native Cuba in 1961?
Mr. Godoy shouldn't be pessimistic regarding the state of these old United States because, believe it or not, there still are a great many of Tom Brokaw's "Greatest Generation" alive and able to kick!
