Eryn Eubanks is an old soul in a young body who always has appreciated traditional music.

That's why it's interesting that she and her family will stage the inaugural Olde Time Music Festival from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 14, on the campus of Lynndale Inc. at 1490 Eisenhower Drive off Washington Road.

Admission is $10, which benefits the Lynndale community support center. The center helps the handicapped and disabled.

Sconyers Bar-B-Que will serve food, and there will be bluegrass, folk, classic country, gospel and other roots music, along with arts and crafts.

Volunteer performers include Mike Compton, a Grammy Award-winning mandolin player from the movie soundtrack of O Brother, Where Art Thou? ; Mr. Compton's musical sidekick, David Long; Christian music vocalist Charlotte Richie, who was seen with Jeff and Sheri Easter's band and on the Gaither Homecoming TV specials; and comedian and bluegrass picker Joey Hancock.

The Eubankses are looking for more volunteer vocalists, acoustic instrument musicians andcrafts artists. If you want to participate, e-mail Eryn's dad, Patrick Eubanks, at eubanksfamilyfold@comcast.net or call (706) 736-0043.

FREE FESTIVAL: The weekend after the Eubanks festival, there will be a free bluegrass festival beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 21, "on the square" in downtown Greenwood, S.C. It is part of the 41st annual Festival of Flowers.

Dan Tyminski, a guitarist with Alison Krauss' Union Station band and the singing voice for George Clooney in O Brother, Where Art Thou? , is the featured artist. Also performing will be The Ronnie Bowman Band, The New Dixie Storm and OverDrive. See www.scfestivalofflowers.com.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Monday will be bluegrass music veteran Ralph Stanley's 81st birthday. Mr. Stanley and his Clinch Mountain Boys will perform at 3 p.m. March 2, at the Newberry (S.C.) Opera House. Tickets are $37.50. Call (803) 276-6264 or order online at newberryoperahouse.com.

RHONDA'S BROTHER: It's great to see Rhonda Vincent, one of Dolly Parton's favorite singers, returning Saturday to the Imperial Theatre with her band, The Rage. Many music fans don't know that her brother, Darrin Vincent, formerly the mandolinist for Ricky Skaggs' Kentucky Thunder band, is now making waves of his own in the bluegrass world. Mr. Vincent last year teamed up with Jamie Daily, the former lead singer and guitarist for Doyle Lawson's Quicksilver band, to form Dailey & Vincent.

You can see them at 1:30 and 7 p.m. Friday, May 2, at The Lewis Family's 21st annual Homecoming & Bluegrass Festival at Elijah Clark State Park east of Lincolnton, Ga.

Visit thelewisfamilymusic.com site and look in the left column for the link to the flier for more on the festival.
