FAVORITE CONCERT: Keller Williams, BÃla Fleck and the Yonder Mountain String Band, Fox Theatre, Atlanta, 2005. "BÃla Fleck, I just respect him musically; he's incredible. He's so tasteful. And Keller Williams is such a weirdo. ... But he's talented. ... Oh, and the Yonder Mountain String Band was there, too. It was ridiculous. Those guys are freaking amazing. "
BEST SHOW: Hunting-club banquet in a barn, Athens, Ga., 2008. "It was supposed to be me and (John Saye) playing some songs that we do together, but ... this gospel bluegrass band showed up, and they're like, 'Oh, you guys are playing with us.' And so he ended up being the guitarist, and I ended up being the harmonica player and backup vocals. And we just got thrown into this bluegrass band. Didn't know any of the songs; and we were just faking it, and it was a blast."
WORST SHOW: School function at Wenden Elementary School, Wenden, Ariz., 1990. "I sang Go Tell It on the Mountain for some kind of Christmas show, and I butchered it. After that, I think it took me, like, 10 years before I would sing in front of people again."
