EVANS, Ga. - David Richardson McCullough, 69, died Tuesday, February 18, 2003 in Evans. Funeral services will be conducted at a later date in Baltimore, Maryland. A native of New York City, he attended Columbia College and New York University and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He retired in 1985 as President of Jackson Sportswear, Inc. and began a very active life in community service in his adopted town of Phillipsburg, NJ. He founded and chaired the Arthur E. Tron Memorial Committee which established an endowment fund providing Humanitarian Awards for graduating students of area High Schools. The McCullough Beauty Salon at Warren Hospital, in Warren County, Pa., is named for him in honor of his service to the Hospital. He was a member of the State Theater Guild in Easton, Pa., serving as its vice president. Other areas of service include memberships in The Bernadine May Post of the American Legion., VFW Post 93, Elks Lodge #395 and a life member of the Phillipsburg Area Historical Society. Mr. McCullough was a member of the Board of Directors of the Karen Ann Quinlan Center of Hope in Warren and Sussex counties in Pennsylvania, and a member of the board of directors for the Firth Youth Center, receiving the Elizabeth Firth Wade Community Service Award in 1996. In 1993 he was honored as the Phillipsburg Area Citizen of the Year. Survivors include his niece, Diane MacEwen of Atlanta, his niece , Lisa Staples of Baltimore, Md.; his nephew, Robert McCullough of San Antonio, Texas and three great nephews and a great niece.
