AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Sterling Gibson "Pete" Goldman, 83, of Bayvale Road, beloved husband of 59 years to Margaret Boger Goldman, entered into rest on Sunday, February 16, 2003, at Doctors Hospital. Funeral services will be at Bayvale Baptist Church, 2240 Bayvale Road, on Friday, February 21, 2003, at 2 p.m., with Reverend James Bland and Dr. Ken Gavalas officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Additional survivors include one son, Sterling Gibson "Gibbs" Goldman of Rockville, Va.; one daughter, Karen Goldman Haley of Appling; one sister, Lois Goldman Todd of Spring Hill, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Rhonda Haley Blackmon, Adam Haley, Jenna Goldman, Melody Vonetes and Megan Goldman; six great-grandchildren, Whitney Hogan, Corydon Haley, Morgan Whaley, Gregory Blackmon, Amber Blackmon and Dallton Deal. A. native of Thomson, Mr. Goldman was a member of Bayvale Baptist Church and the Iron Workers Union Local No. 709. A veteran of WW II having served in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Goldman served on the USS Reina Mercedes, the USS Yancey and the USS Quincy. Pallbearers include Michael Aycox, Bob Bullard, Ralph Bullard, Robert Bullard, Donnie Farr, John Lane and David Perry.
