NAGANO -- Bjoern Daehlie won his record seventh gold medal Wednesday, but he said it wasn't on his mind when Norway won the 4 x 10-kilometer cross-country relay.

"I've not been thinking about it,'' he said. "It's the journalists who focus on it. But it means something to me. I will appreciate it in some years.''

As he watched the team's anchor Thomas Alsgaard make a mad dash to the finish line to beat Italy by .02 seconds, Daehlie said, "I'm lucky to have this guy on my team.''

  • Norway won the gold and silver medals in men's biathlon 10-kilometer sprint while Finland took bronze.

Ole Einar Bjoerndalen was first, followed by Frode Andresen and Ville Raikkonen of Finland.

It wasn't a good day for the United States as Dan Westover finished 49th and Jay Hakkinen, of Kasiloff, Alaska, was 60th. Hakkinen is the current Junior World Champion in the sprint.
