Rants and raves

A HUGE RAVE to good Samaritan Johnathan Hock. My car had a tire blow out in front of his office. He graciously came to my assistance even though he was busy working. He very aptly changed my tire and declined any payment, stating that he would hope someone would come to wife's aid were she in a similar difficulty. He gave me the greatest Valentine that I could receive on that very day. Many, many thanks, young man!

GREAT ARTICLE ON trolleys downtown. Why was Reynolds Street ignored? Could it be Reynolds has turned into a truck raceway? Why do we have the heavy fast traffic going through the middle of our city? Hazardous trucks go down the street at all times of the day and night. Bring on the trolleys, not the trucks.

"GUN CONTROL" is just a euphemism for "unarmed victims."

ARM OUR TEACHERS.

I CAN READ ABOUT a dog show in The Augusta Chronicle sports section, but not a word about the NHRA Winter Nationals from Ponoma, Calif. This is the first professional drag race of the year. Your sports staff needs guidance!

IF THEY DON'T get the riff-raff out of Harrisburg, it will become the drug capital of the Southeast. We want a quiet neighborhood again.

A RANT TO THE impatient oaf behind me on Evans To Locks at Blue Ridge who continuously blew his horn. I could probably have turned in front of the slow traffic, but with my precious grandbaby with me, I refused to take a chance. I hope you caught the next two red lights.

LIKE BOBBY DODD at Georgia Tech, I'm not sure any one human being in the history of Georgia football meant more to the program than Vince Dooley. Dooley did for UGA what Dodd did for Tech, but he did it in what's commonly referred to as the modern era. ... Decision makers at UGA would be lacking reasonable thought if they failed to make Sanford Stadium Dooley Field. I'm a Tech man, but even I recognize greatness.

A HUGE RANT to how we are ending up with bad choices for our 2008 president.

PHINIZY SWAMP Wildlife Management Area is asking for volunteers to do a "cleanup." If Phinizy Swamp is so "natural," why does it need cleaning up?
