Despite putting 45 shots on net through three periods and overtime, the Lynx's luck ran out.

Entering the game, Stingrays goaltender David Brumby was tied for third in the ECHL with a 0.932 save percentage. He lived up to that ranking in the first period, knocking away 15 of 16 shots on goal. But the tide turned in the second.

After a flurry of penalties, Brumby let three of 16 shots get past him. Greg Naumenko had a similarly frustrating second period. He received a two-minute roughing penalty, a 10-minute misconduct and let in two goals on 17 shots. Each team gave up a power-play goal.

A goal by center Louis Goulet late in the second gave the Lynx a lead they held on to until late in the third period.

Goulet tallied four points on one goal and three assists. He extended his lead as the team's leading scorer with 21 goals and 31 assists.

Matching penalties late in the third opened the ice, and the Stingrays put the pressure on. With a minute left, the Stingrays pulled their goalie and Marty Clapton scored the game tying goal with 45 seconds left in the game.

Despite arguments by Drulia that the Stingray's extra man was on the ice well before Brumby was off the ice, the refs said the goal stood.

For most of the third period, Naumenko kept his cool, making save after save. But the man-advantage proved too much for the team.

NOTES: The Lynx beefed up their line-up on Wednesday acquiring forward Stuart Pietersma from the Florida Everblades for Paul Vincent. The 6-foot, 2-inch, 230-pound Pietersma has 228 PIMs this season, fourth in the ECHL.
