WHAT'S THE PROBLEM? A reader is concerned about the many dead and dying trees alongside Gordon Highway between Barton Chapel Road and Dyess Parkway. One of the trees fell on the passenger side of his car while he was driving westbound on Gordon Highway and totaled it, he wrote. Fix It went to the site and saw trees lying in the road's shoulder and dying trees still standing.
WHO'S RESPONSIBLE? After Fix It determined that the Georgia Department of Transportation was not responsible for clearing the trees, a call was made to the CSX Railroad Co., which maintains the area surrounding this section of track.
WHAT'S BEING DONE? Meg Sacks, a spokeswoman for CSX, said there are currently no plans to cut down any trees in that area. Ms. Sacks said a contractor for CSX has trimmed along that section of track in the past but she did not know when they would do it again and would not release the name of the contractor.
