Voices cynical view of Washington

Web posted January 23, 1997

Editor, The Chronicle

Is there anything lower than a Washington politician? I think not. How many years have you heard Washington say ``We will balance the budget''? I've heard it all my life and have yet to see it - and, chances are, never will.

Will Social Security be available in 25 years? The goons in Washington can serve one year and be able to retire (under the) elite of all retirements. They want to cut and slash Social Security, but have you once heard them say anything about reducing theirs? Washington, D.C. - the lip service capital of the world.

Any body of government who condones the death of babies by way of abortion and partial-birth abortion are no more than murderers themselves. What next? Are they to start killing our disabled, the terminally ill, folks with black hair and blue eyes? Who's next? Is there anyone left in Washington with an ounce of morals?

Mr. and Mrs. Private Citizen pay for all that Washington does. We pay rent on the White House and foot all bills for retirements. We pay for planes, trains and automobiles, and anything else you can think of. The way our money is spent you would think it was falling from the sky.

I have voted all my life and nothing has changed. Be it Democrat or Republican, both have failed miserably. If I ran my business like they do, I would be out of business. Taxes are raised by the largest margin ever by whoever is in office. And the beat goes on.

Billy Bedgood, Augusta
