Stephanie Rozier believes there are responsibilities associated with wearing a studded tiara and sash.
"There is so much I can do with a title," said Stephanie, a 15-year-old North Augusta High School student who started entering pageants in October and has won four titles since, including Miss Teen Aiken County in November.
Community service is important to Stephanie, who has volunteered with several organizations.
"I've done a lot with the Golden Harvest Food Bank," she said. "I was at Taste of the Harvest. During Spooky to Be Hungry, I stacked cans. I'll be at the Masters Table in January."
Her community-service efforts predate her crowns. Stephanie has participated in Relay for Life, and she helped at Camp Kemo in Columbia last summer.
Stephanie said she entered the Miss Western Carolina State Fair to gain experience for her high school's pageant. It was the first title she'd ever won.
"It was exciting," she said.
The Miss Teen Aiken County pageant is a preliminary to the Little Miss South Carolina pageant in Hartsville in June.
Over the next few months, Stephanie will have to work on a talent routine for that competition. She had taken dance lessons when she was younger and will try to develop a jazz dance for the pageant.
Stephanie's ultimate goal is to represent South Carolina as Miss Teen U.S.A.
She said she hopes the pageants will help her obtain money for college. She plans to become a nurse.
