Le Chat Noir has diverse entertainment planned for theater's second season

The owners of Le Chat Noir are building on the theater's successful first dramatic season by adding an Elvis tribute show, a rock concert and a magic act in the coming weeks.

"We want to bring people downtown," said Carrie Anderson, one of the owners.

Sold-out shows have become a staple at the theater, which opened in August, and new attractions will keep visitors coming, she said.

"We want to be eclectic, not just a dramatic venue," she said.

Jeff Barnes' One Night With You: A Tribute to Elvis Presley will be staged Friday and Saturday.

Mr. Barnes has been a finalist in international Elvis impersonator competitions.

The show features Elvis from the 1950s to the 1970s.

On Jan. 31, the Bottle Rockets will be playing in concert. Based out of St. Louis, the band has been hailed as the "workingman's rock band," according to a news release from Mrs. Anderson.

The band has recorded eight albums.

Another addition to Le Chat Noir's repertoire is its bar, which opens at 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and caters to the downtown business crowd, Mrs. Anderson said.

Next month, Le Chat Noir will be open for another theatrical production.

The Fantasticks will run for three weekends beginning Feb. 2.

The world's longest running musical, it features musical selections such as Soon It's Gonna Rain and Try to Remember.

In honor of Valentine's Day, there will be a package with romantic seating for two, a bottle of wine and a platter of cheese.

Mrs. Anderson said a family magic show will be staged in March; its details are still to be announced.
