Web posted January 1, 2000
His pulsating music was copied by a string of entertainers which earned Brown spots in both the Georgia Music Hall of Fame and the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. He sold millions upon millions of records throughout the world.
His personal life has been a roller coaster of ups and downs, but yet he perseveres. He started handing out free bicycles to needy Augusta kids in the late '60s and, three decades later, continues to distribute Thanksgiving turkeys and Christmas gifts annually. He continues to live up to his nicknames: The Hardest Working Man in Show Business and the Godfather of Soul.
