Let the BCS debate begin

  • Follow UGA

LSU secured its spot in the BCS national title game Saturday with a convincing 42-10 triumph over Georgia in the Southeastern Conference championship game.

Now, the question is which team the Tigers will face on Jan. 9 in New Orleans: Alabama or Oklahoma State?

Alabama has been a solid No. 2 in the BCS standings, but ithe Crimson Tide lost at home to LSU in overtime.

Oklahoma State routed rival Oklahoma 44-10 on Saturday night and has only one loss.

The BCS matchup and other bowl pairings will be unveiled on ESPN tonight (coverage begins at 8:15 p.m.), but who do you want to see play for the title?

Looks like UGA and USC both

Looks like UGA and USC both will be playing Big Ten teams. Let the SEC show no mercy.

But there's something cool about watching a team win a game to get in the Orange Bowl when the fans start throwing oranges all over the field. That's the only bowl that is about something you can throw on the field if you think about it. There's nothing like college football.

LSU vs OK STATE, they won the conference championships Bama may be good but just like UGA in 2007 they should not make it to the BCS. Sorry Bama fans but you should have to win the conference to play for a national title.

I agree on teams winning all

I agree on teams winning all their games or conference titles, but after Alabama opened the door, they all blew their chances. Oklahoma State, Stanford, Oregon, Virginia Tech all have had losses in the past month. It's unfortunate, but the nation's two best teams reside in the same division of the same conference. Nothing in the rules states you have to win your conference to play in title game, right?

"It's unfortunate, but the nation's two best teams reside in the same division of the same conference". Maybe, maybe not. OK State and, Boise for that matter, may be better than Bama. We'll never know.

If every conference doesn't
Unpublished

If every conference doesn't have a championship game then they shouldn't count as far as the BCS is concerned. That's exactly how Ohio State has backdoored their way into at least 2 BCS games!

The collegiate football

The collegiate football national championship polling is much akin to the U.S. judicial system. When you take someone to court, do you really expect true justice? Of course not. What you are really seeking is a decision. Then both you (plaintiff) and the other guy (defendant) can get on with your lives. So goes the college bowl game system. It's not perfect, but it is very good, and it does yield a decision. I'm all for LSU and Alabama in the BCS championship game!!!!

OSU? Who is that?

alabama 11-1 (2-1 against

alabama 11-1 (2-1 against top 25 final teams) lost to #1 lsu
oklahoma st 11-1 (5-0 top 25 final teams) lost to unranked iowa st
stanford 11-1 (0-1 vs top 25 ranked teams) lost to oregon
boise st 11-1(1-1 vs top 25 ranked teams) lost to tcu
houston 12-1 (0-1 vs top 25 ranked teams) lost to s miss

stanford, houston and boise st played weak schedules and should not be considered for the national championship

okla st beat more top 25 teams than alabama, but lost to a 6-6 unranked team

alabama plays in the strong sec conference and lost only to #1 lsu by 3 in ot

okla st should play alabama at a nuetral site for the right to face lsu for the national title

I believe the SEC and ACC

I believe the SEC and ACC should always play for the National Championship. If the rest of the country doesn't like it...tough. LSU v. Clemson would work.
