Fifth annual Town of Jackson

Hook and Cook Festival

Oct. 19-20

The 100 percent payback fishing tournament begins at safe light Oct. 20. Entry fee is $50 per boat with an optional $10 for the big fish pot. There are four categories: panfish, bass, striper/hybrid and catfish. The festival will be held at the Jackson Community Center and Pavilion on Main Street. A dessert competition will be held the night of Oct. 19 with a $10 entry fee. The winner gets $100. The S.C. Barbecue Association-sanctioned cookoff judging will be held Oct. 20. Winner gets $1,000, first runner-up $500 and second runner-up $250. Barbecue pork and chicken dinners will be sold Oct. 20 from 11 a.m., until sold out. The event is free and additional activities include a car and boat show, arts and crafts, karaoke contest, food vendors, inflatable slides and more. 30th annual Toys for Tots

Open Team Bass Tournament

Nov. 10, Wildwood Park

Entrants must be members of the Fish for Life Foundation. Guaranteed first-place prize of $2,500. Entry fee: Two toys valued at $10 each plus $25 for a total of $45. Big fish winner collects $500. One extra toy gives entrants a chance to crack a 5-digit code and win a new boat. Tournaments will be limited to the first 20 boats and are open to all ID cardholders and the public with a Fort Gordon fishing license guest permit. Entry fee is $10 per Fort Gordon Sportsman Club member, $20 per non-member, with an optional $5 big fish pot, with a guaranteed $100 for first place and $50 for second place. Registration is with the club prior to the tournament or 30 minutes before the event’s start. State licenses and Fort Gordon fishing permits required.
