BERLIN — Injury-riddled Augsburg ended Bayern Munich’s record 53-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga with a 1-0 victory on Saturday.

Sascha Moelders scored in the 31st minute for Augsburg to hand Bayern its first league loss since a 2-1 defeat at home to Bayer Leverkusen on Oct. 28, 2012.

It was Augsburg’s first victory over its larger Bavarian rival after five league and three German Cup defeats, and Bayern’s third successive game without a win in all competitions since it won the Bundesliga title with seven games to spare.

PREMIER LEAGUE: Manches-ter City displayed the attacking power that could drive the team to the league title, beating Southampton 4-1.

The 2012 champions are now just a point behind leader Liverpool with a game in hand ahead of their meeting next Sunday.

In other action, Chelsea strolled to a 3-0 victory over Stoke to reclaim the provisional league lead.

Manchester United claimed a league-leading 10th away win by beating Newcastle 4-0.

LA LIGA: Atletico Madrid sweated out a 1-0 victory over Villarreal without leading scorer Diego Costa to stay top of the Spanish league, while Lionel Messi scored two goals in Barcelona’s 3-1 win over last-placed Real Betis to stay one point behind.
