Reese Hoffa finishes fourth in shot put at world championships

MOSCOW — Reese Hoffa, of the United States, finished fourth in the shot put at the world championships on Friday.

The former Lakeside and Georgia standout’s best throw was 69 feet, 3 inches.

David Storl, of Germany, retained his title. His winning throw of 71-3 was first flagged for a foul but later reinstated.

Ryan Whiting of the United States, the season’s top performer, took the silver with a throw of 70-9¼ and Dylan Armstrong, of Canada earned the bronze, at 70-0¼.
